About the speakers
Christophe Lavigne: Winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for Central Texas in 2011, embodies the French entrepreneurial success story. He co-founded LDR, a medical device company, at an incubator in Troyes, France, with friends and colleagues Hervé Dinville and Patrick Richard. Investors in France and Texas then worked to get LDR and Christophe to Austin, Texas for its next growth phase. In a few short years, LDR was on the Nasdaq and then acquired in 2016 by Zimmer Biomet for $1.1 billion.
Carmelo Gordian: Carmelo focuses on life science, software, telecommunications, semiconductor and energy sector companies. He is known as a leader in the Texas venture capital and private equity community and was formerly the chairman of the San Francisco based Brobeck Business & Technology Group.Carmelo has represented buyers and sellers in numerous transactions in North America (United States, Mexico and Canada), Latin America (Central and SouthAmerica), Europe and Asia. He has acted as counsel in 55 public offering transactions with 27 transactions representing the company, 25 transactions representing underwriters and three transactions advising significant shareholders. He has also acted as company and investment counsel on several hundred private offerings principally venture financings over the past 30 years.
